On September 24, 2004, Underdogs officially opened. Now a few months off ten years later, we’re still here and still kicking (sort of).

To celebrate Underdogs’ upcoming 10 year anniversary, we’re once again holding a fanwork contest! The contest will run March 15-April 15, 2014, followed by one week of voting, after which the winners will be announced.

There are two themes this time around: 10, and Anniversary, of which contestants may use one or both. I am including a few ideas to get the creative juices flowing below. Contestants do not have to use these; they’re merely examples and you may interpret the themes as you wish. This contest has both fanfiction and fanart categories.

    Ideas/Prompts:

  • “10 Years Later” – where will they be in 10 years? Present day thinking of the future; ten-years-older characters going on with their lives, and what-have-you.
  • “10 Years Ago” – characters as young children; future versions of the characters thinking of their present (teen) selves, etc.
  • “The Anniversary” – did someone in the future get married? Is it the anniversary of an important match or event?

Things to Remember

Upon submitting something to this contest, unless you specifically state otherwise, you are giving me permission to archive everything on the main website after the contest is over. For fiction, if you do not already have an account, one will be made for you using the email address and nickname you provide when you submit your works.

Should you wish to eventually delete your fic, or add more to the archive, simply use the ‘lost password’ form to create a new password for yourself and log in. For fanart, simply shoot me an email and I’ll remove it. If you choose to remove your works it is requested, but not required, that you provide a link to somewhere else it is posted in order to prevent broken links on the site.

In order to go through with proper voting and physical prizes, I must receive at least 5 entries per category. If I receive fewer entries, voting will be called off and all entrants will instead receive a consolation prize.
