New contest!

As Underdogs is currently heading into its 10th year online, we’re holding a 10th Anniversary fanwork contest! There are categories for both fic and art, and winners can take home some fabulous prizes! The contest will run March 15th-April 15th, 2014, so there’s about a week to start thinking of ideas!. Follow the banner below for all of the (possible TL;DR) information.

Future Projects

I’ve been thinking about doing a few ongoing projects to help keep the site alive, including an online doujinshi anthology. The idea is to compile a set of works including comics, pinup art, and illustrated fiction set to a theme and release it all as a single “volume”. If this sounds like something you’d like to participate in, or would like to read, please vote in the poll featured on Underdogs’ main page.

Another project I’d started years ago but never managed to finish for various personal reasons was the introduction of FSTs – Fan Sound Tracks – to the site. The original project signup post was here for more information on how that worked. A poll will probably go up sometime in the near future.

Yet another was weekly/monthly fanwork challenges or ficathons. I will be gauging interest via the fudo_courts Livejournal community, and probably running through there as the main venue (with a possible mirror on dreamwidth).

Site backend upgrades and other updates

Site backend

I upgraded WordPress and Efiction today – please let me know if there are any problems! I went through the subscriber/user list on WordPress and deleted any users that looked (by name or email) to be spam registrations – if you were accidentally deleted (it’s possible) please feel free to re-register.

Content Updates

I’m currently working on cleaning up the doujinshi section – adding titles/artists/circles to books that didn’t have them, rearranging them, and all that good stuff. Check back soon for that, as there will also be a handful of new doujinshi added.

New section added to the downloads -> online graphics section: Icons! Currently all of the icons available are created by myself, but anyone may feel free to submit some icons of their own :) (While I’m on the graphics subject: if you have any other graphics – layouts, friends-only banners, wallpapers, etc, feel free to send them in!)

Wanted!

In wanting to make this site a bit more user-interactive, I’ve decided to (at some point) add an essay section – this would be essays about a certain character, ‘ship manifestos, and the like. If you have anything of the sort (or would like to write one!), feel free to submit!

The guidelines are as follows:

  • These would be just like the essays you write in school, and therefore must contain proper grammar/spelling/structure. A beta-reader is a good thing to have.
  • You must be able to support your views/thesis somehow via OFFICIAL sources – be it through the fanbooks, anime, or manga.
  • Essays may be in any style you wish – compare/contrast, process analysis, cause/effect, etc)
  • All sources/references must be listed.

I’d also like to offer more translated material, be it songs, fanbook information, or doujinshi, but unfortunately my Japanese is too fail to do this on my own. If you can translate from Japanese to English and would like to help out, feel free to contact me via one of the options in the contact section.

New fic + New doujinshi + FST project notes

First off, a new Ibu/Kamio fic by Ashkah, Warmth has been added to the archive.

Next, thanks to Ash (carsmash @ lj), we have two shiny new scanlated Ibu/Kamio doujinshi, both by RURU/Ultimate Powers. You can find Titillation and No Title in the downloads section :)

Lastly, I’m still working on getting the FST’s up from the Fudoumine lj comm’s project (Though I’m a little sad, there were only three including mine :(), but school has been eating me and I haven’t had much time to get things done. Look forward to those when I’m finished cursing math finals, research projects and poison oak.

And as an aside, if anyone is planning on attending Fanime in San Jose, CA at the end of the month, feel free to hunt me down in the Artist’s Alley, where I will be squatting “watching” my darling Sasu’s table while Sasu is off doing her cosplay gatherings ♥

Site updates: new doujinshi, new links section, new merch & FST project

First: New merch XD Aren’t they the most ridiculously cute couple of wannabe-Italians ever? Ibu + Kamio in Italy: Travel Bromides

I will find this bromide somewhere >> From the Travel series, released March 8, 2007.

Second: There is a new doujinshi in the downloads section, Tacchi & Keigo, a wonderful bit of crack kindly provided by Leah. Thank you, darling ♥

Third: Fixed up the links section! They’re now categorized and I am using a new script so if you should so choose, you can add your own links :)

Fourth: There is a about two weeks left in the Fudoumine LJ comm FST Project! If you’re interested, please check it out and join in on the fun :)

Contest entries, popularity poll, FST project & downloads

First off, I want to thank the lovely ladies who entered the contest, and I’m sorry that there were not enough entries to actually have the contest. You’ve all been emailed for a consolation prize, if you haven’t received it, hit up kamio at fudomine dot org and I’ll make sure you get it again XD

And since the contest is over, all of the entries have been archived in the fanart section under the 2006-2006 contest archive. I encourage you to check them out, all four are very cute (IbuKam by Kiu, Kamio & An by Nova, An and some chibi Fudou-boys by Sindy, and a pile of Fudou-boys headed for Tachibana’s house by Vampy18)

Second, with the release of Genius 333 and the fourth popularity poll, here are where our boys rank!

Third! I’ve uploaded a 320 cbr .rar of Shinji’s START~Boku no Yukue~ single, complete with booklet scans. Look for more 320 stuff soon.

And fourth! I am hosting a Fudoumine FST (Fan Soundtrack) project on the fudo_courts livejournal community. If you’re interested in creating a fan soundtrack for a boy (or girl), a pairing, the whole school – please join us! All information can be found here. All FSTs will be hosted here on Underdogs when the project is complete. I encourage you to join the Fudoumine community, as well, it needs more love. ♥
